Continental School District

The Continental School District is currently phasing out a budget override. While the fiscal impact on a short term might give some Chamber members financial relief during record troubled times ,the Government Committee strongly believes that our children represent the future of the community and the best investment we can make.

One of the problems during the past override election was a low voter turnout. The Government Committee recommends that The Chamber Board adopt a policy of helping inform businesses in and near the District of the election,with a message that it is crucial to study the issues and make an informed decision.

Futhermore, the Committee recommends that the Chamber web site be used to make all sides of this election available to the membership, believing that an informed public is the best way to generate interest and informed decisions. This is neither an endorsement or rejection of the override.

The Government Relations Committee of the Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce has a mission to inform and educate the Chamber Membership about issues that affect our community and to develop influence through the political process.

We inform our members of government actions that affect the business community
We interact with our elected officials and bureaucrats at the local, county, state and federal leves.
We conduct candidate interviews to inform candidates about issues important to the business community and to share candidate information with Chamber Members for an informed electorate.
